Sierra Butler of Star Valley Crowned Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2022

Douglas, WY- August 19, 2021- The Miss Rodeo Wyoming Association is proud to announce Sierra Butler (2021 Miss Lincoln County Fair and Rodeo Queen) of Star Valley was crowned Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2022 at the Wyoming State Fair in Douglas on August 19, 2021. Rachel Derner, Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2020/2021 was on hand for the crowning. Sierra was joined by four other Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2022 contestants, Holly Riesland (2021 Thermopolis Cowboy Rendezvous Rodeo Queen) of Cheynne, WY, Jordan Lutz (Miss Teton County Fair & Rodeo 2021) from Jackson, WY, Madelanie McElwee (Miss Laramie Jubliee 2020) from Laramie, WY, and Shayla Conner (Miss Sheridan WYO Rodeo) of Cheyenne, WY. The judges included Audrey Etta DeGrace (Arvada, Co), Megan Helmer (Fairfield, MT) and Lisa Murphy (Northwest Nebraska).


The pageant started on August 16th and concluded on August 19th. They were judged in multiple categories including horsemanship, personality, and appearance. Other category winners were also announced during the crowning ceremony.

Sierra Butler was born and raised where the three rivers converge in Star Valley, Wyoming. As a Wyoming Cowgirl, Sierra embodies what it means to represent the Cowboy State. Growing up in Star Valley, Sierra is an avid supporter of Wyoming’s agriculture industry, showing both Horses and Pigs in her local 4H club. Sierra represented Lincoln County as their Princess in 2014 and queen in 2021. In the Cowboy State, children are raised with the ideas and morals from a young age to always lend a helping hand. Keeping in tune with her empathetic roots, Sierra is pursuing an Associate’s Degree of Nursing which will fulfill her Registered Nurse Licensure. Upon graduation in August 2022, Sierra plans to continue her education towards her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing. Sierra hopes to work as a Registered Nurse and eventually gain her certification as a Life Flight Nurse. When Sierra is not attending classes, she enjoys hunting trophy mule deer with her dad among Wyoming’s breathtaking mountainous landscape. Sierra has been riding horses from a young age and enjoys competing in cutting and sorting events. Sierra also enjoys paddle boarding, camping, hiking and traveling the country.



Sierra will hold her coronation/fundraiser this fall before traveling to Las Vegas, NV to support Rachel, Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2020/2021 as Rachel competes for the title of Miss Rodeo America 2022. Additional information on her coronation/fundraiser, as well as Rachel’s Las Vegas Send-Off party will be released at a later date on the Miss Rodeo Wyoming website (http://www.missrodeowyoming.com/).
