On the Road with
Miss Rodeo Wyoming

I have been very busy these last three months and am enjoying every minute of it!!  The weekend after the clinic I sang the National Anthem for a local bullriding in Laramie.  My picture ended up in Rodeo News with the champion from the evening.  My next road trip took me to Pocatello for the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo.  I had a blast.  We visited numerous different schools, hospitals and nursing homes.  We participated in the downhill skiing sloam race and I snowboarded for the first time ever.  It was great and the pictures are very entertaining.  The rodeo was great and very intense with the Wrangler round in place.  My next trip was to Greeley to watch the Miss Rodeo Colorado preliminary pageant.  They had me participate in fashion show where I modeled and answered impromptu questions.  It was a great experience.  The next week, I headed to Nevada for the Miss Rodeo Nevada pageant and the Logandale tour rodeo.  We visited many different grade schools, hospitals and nursing homes and participated in all of their pageant activities.  The rodeo was great.  They had good horses for us to ride.  We helped the pickup men get their horses ready and we were introduced at the beginning of each rodeo.  I am excited about the rest of my travels this spring and am gearing up for the summer rodeos.  Hope everyone is doing well.  God Bless, Stacy Jo Johnson

I would like to thank everyone who made my coronation such a success. Even though I held my coronation on the night of our first snow in Laramie, people still braved the roads and came out to enjoy the celebration. I was honored to have around 300 people attend. The entire night was a celebration and my goal was for people to come with their families and enjoy themselves. After hearing comments, I believe we achieved the goal. We had the Sunshine Generation Kids perform while people waited in line for dinner. It was great watching little three and four year olds dance their little hearts out. I was blessed to have Karen Castle Clark, Miss Rodeo Wyoming 1997, as my master of ceremonies. She did an excellent job keeping everyone on track and sticking with the schedule. The motorcycle ride into the building was lots of fun. I was riding a different kind of horsepower that night! I would like to thank my committee here in Laramie that put in numerous hours of volunteer work to make sure that the coronation was a success. I would also like to thank all of the businesses and people who donated items for my auctions, the volunteers who worked during my coronation and for everyone who came and enjoyed the night with me and my family. It truly was a great time and a huge success.
It was exciting to head to Las Vegas to watch Crystal Rivers, Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2007, compete in the Miss Rodeo America pageant. Being in Vegas during the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is a great experience. Not only did we watch the pageant, but we were also able to take in the first two performances of the Finals. I can honestly say I have never seen a rodeo run as smooth as the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. The pageant competition was stiff as all of the state queens represented their states with pride. It was nice to get an idea of what I will be doing next year. It seems a long time away, but I know it will be here before I know it. I would like to congratulate Crystal on the excellent job she did serving as Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2007. I have big shoes to fill. It is an honor following a young woman who is as kind, honest and gracious as Crystal Rivers. Thank you for all you did for the sport of rodeo and for everything you have done for me.
My year started off in Denver where I spent a couple days at market. Market truly is shoppers’ heaven and I would like to thank Kerri, Jay, Laurie and Joe for the great time and for introducing me to many different people around the mart. Some of the generous sponsors from the market this year are Cowgirl Polo, Resistol, Chambers Belts, West and Company, Honcho Boots-Bob Davidson, Bill Schackelford- Olathe Boots, Cripple Creek Jackets and Rhinestone Cowgirl. I truly appreciate all of your donations and support. My year as Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2008 is possible because of people like you. In between our shopping I made a quick appearance as the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo. Miss Rodeo Colorado, South Dakota, North Dakota and I signed autographs, gave tours of the stock show and spent time with families and supporters of the NWSS. It was great to be able to share our western heritage and individual experiences with people from nonagricultural backgrounds. More stock show is coming as I participate in the last weekend of stock show carrying flags and representing Wyoming. My year is up and running with all of the fun just beginning.

God Bless,

Stacy Jo Johnson
