Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2009: Allie Bass
“If you’ve ever seen a sunrise on a mountain morning,
or watched those cotton-candy clouds as they roll by,
you’d know why, I live, beneath these Western Skies”

Allie Bass of Sheridan was named Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2009 at the Miss Rodeo Wyoming Pageant in Douglas during the Wyoming State Fair in August. She won the crown by capturing high scores in the categories of horsemanship, personality, and knowledge. “This wonderful honor is the result of the tremendous support from my sponsors, family, and friends. The opportunity to serve Wyoming invigorates me and humbles me at the same time. In the coming year my dedication is entirely focused on offering education, promoting rodeo, and exemplifying the western way of life Wyoming uniquely offers.”
Allie’s love of horses, agriculture, and the outdoors started early; she has been in “her own” saddle since she was 4 years old. Her participation in 4-H gave her many opportunities to hone her skills as a rider and horse trainer. Allie’s interest in agriculture was a natural fit with FFA, where she served as chapter officer and member of the horse judging team. She received many awards and awards in both programs including 4-H state champion individual horse judger, 12 state champion equestrian awards, FFA equine proficiency honors, and the Star Chapter Farmer Award.
Allie has learned the value of compassionate competition in both academic and extracurricular activities. She was member of National Honor Society, lettered in soccer, swimming, FFA, and competed on the Sheridan High School Rodeo Team. Through these experiences, Allie has learned that hard-work, dedication, good sportsmanship and a positive attitude are the keys to success in any undertaking.

Growing up largely in Sheridan and experiencing the Wyoming lifestyle in Sheridan and Teton Counties, Allie has partook in much of the diversity our state offers.
She has achieved an Associates Degree in Engineering and Mathematics from Casper College this last December, and later plans include furthering her education at the University of Wyoming. Starting in January 2009 Allie will be taking a year off from school to proudly fulfill her duties as Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2009.
Allie plans to emphasize the historically agricultural founded arena of recycling. Taking the step into the Rodeo Arena – more accurately the stands – Allie will strive to initiate some sustainable practices at our Wyoming Rodeos. Recycling beverage containers and raising conscientiousness on sustainable materials, we all use, to minimize landfill impacts can serve to strengthen Rodeo’s ties with its agricultural origins. “Going green isn’t something we talk about. It is what agriculture folks have done as a lifestyle! Revitalizing our utilitarian roots and educating youth could be one of our great generational gifts.”
